A total of 41 vote centers opened Saturday across San Diego County for early voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Additional vote centers will open next Saturday, May 30, for a total of 220 countywide. These will also be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the final day of voting, June 2, all vote centers, official ballot drop boxes and the Registrar of Voters office will extend hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The registrar said early voting supports prompt ballot processing and can help reduce wait times on Election Day.

Campaigning or electioneering within 100 feet of a vote center or official ballot drop box is illegal. This includes the visible display or audible dissemination of information that advocates for or against any candidates or contests on the ballot. This also includes circulating petitions, including those for initiatives, referenda, recall or candidate nominations, a county statement read.

The primary ballot includes races for governor, seven other statewide offices, four seats on the Board of Equalization, all of California’s 52 congressional seats, 20 of the 40 state Senate seats and all 80 seats in the Assembly.

The top two candidates in all state and federal races will advance to the November general election, regardless of party. If no candidate receives a majority in the county races, which are all nonpartisan, the top two will meet in the general election.
