Officials have released updates for a number of southern California’s Congressional races.

The 49th Congressional District straddles San Diego County and Orange County. Democratic incumbent Mike Levin leads the San Diego portion of that race in San Diego, but so far trails Republican challenger Matt Gunderson in more conservative Orange County by 11,157 votes, 167,787-156,630, 51.7%-48.3%.

Gunderson is leading in Orange County but Levin is ahead in San Diego County.

In the 47th Congressional District, wholly in Orange County, Sen. Dave Min, D-Irvine, leads Republican Scott Baugh by 2,713 votes, 151,254- 148,541, 50.5%-49.5%.

Min had led by 1,078 votes after Friday’s count after trailing by 616 votes after Thursday’s count and 1,133 after Wednesday’s in the race to succeed Rep. Katie Porter, D-Irvine, who unsuccessfully ran for the Senate seat previously held by late Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Min wrote on social media Saturday he is “feeling good about our momentum” in his quest to succeed Rep. Katie Porter, D-Irvine, who vacated the seat to unsuccessfully run for the Senate seat previously held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Baugh has not commented on social media since before the polls closed Tuesday.

Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, is 7,880 votes ahead of Democrat Will Rollins in his bid for a 17th term representing Riverside County’s 41st Congressional District, 143,621-135,741, 51.4%-48.6%.

In the 45th Congressional District, Rep. Michelle Steel had her lead over Democrat Derek Tran drop to 6,128 votes, 138,573-132,445, 51.1-48.9%. The Seal Beach Republican led by 6,901 votes after Saturday’s count and 7,590 after Friday’s.

Only ballots from the Los Angeles County portion of that district were processed Sunday. There were an estimated 212,152 ballots to be processed throughout Orange County, according to the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

In the 27th Congressional District, Democrat George Whitesides leads Rep. Mike Garcia by 4,730 votes, more than doubling his lead in the latest count by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

Whitesides leads Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, in the Santa Clarita Valley and Antelope Valley district, 50.9%-49.1%, 140,661-135,931.

Whitesides, a former NASA chief of staff, led by 2,114 votes following Saturday’s count of previously unprocessed ballots, after trailing by 973 votes after Friday’s count, 3,240 after Thursday’s and 4,767 after Wednesday’s.

“Every vote in this race needs to be counted, and I’m looking forward to seeing tomorrow’s update,” Whitesides wrote on social media Sunday.

Garcia has not posted about the race on social media since Friday when he wrote, “It is essential that every vote cast by the people of our district is thoroughly and accurately counted,” Garcia said in a statement after the previous ballot count update.

“While we await the final results, variations in daily vote totals are to be expected as the process continues.

“I am confident that when all votes are in, our message of economic security, safe neighborhoods and protecting critical programs like Social Security and Medicare will have resonated with CA-27 families.”

It is currently unclear how many ballots remain to be counted in the congressional races.
