Chula Vista City Councilman Steve Padilla is reportedly making “steady progress” in a battle with coronavirus disease.
“Steve Padilla remains on a ventilator in the ICU, but he is now in stable condition and his doctors are reporting slow, steady progress in overcoming COVID-19,” his daughter Ashleigh said in a statement Wednesday night.
“My dad is a fighter, and he’s fighting through this — with the help of amazing doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are caring for him,” she said. “We’re hopeful that he’s reached a turning point and will be home soon.”
Padilla, who is also chair of the California Coastal Commission, became ill while on commission business in Santa Cruz. He had recently traveled through the San Jose airport, where multiple Transportation Security Administration agents had tested positive for the coronavirus.
