The state Senate Rules Committee unanimously voted Wednesday in favor of San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher’s appointment to the California Air Resources Board.

Fletcher, 42, is also a member of the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Fletcher’s appointment to the board in January.

“I am humbled to have earned the support of the Senate Rules Committee,” Fletcher said. “Serving on the Air Resources Board is a privilege and duty that I take seriously, and I hope to receive the support of the California state Senate.”

Two San Diego County state senators, Sens. Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, and Pat Bates, R-Laguna Niguel, sit on the committee. Fletcher’s confirmation will now go before the full Senate.

Since Fletcher is a public official, he will not receive compensation for his service on this board.
