U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced a brief readiness exercise on Thursday afternoon that would cause “minimal processing delays” at the San Ysidro port of entry.
The exercise is planned for 1 p.m. and is expected to last for 10 minutes.
“U.S. Customs and Border Protection is advising the traveling public of a scheduled large-scale operational readiness exercise that may result in minimal processing delays
at the San Ysidro port of entry,” the CBP said in a statement. “During the exercise, the traveling public should be aware of high visibility operations.”
CBP held readiness exercises at San Ysidro in November and Otay Mesa in December as the migrant caravan approached Tijuana.
San Ysidro is the busiest land port in the world, with 100,000 people crossing daily.
