End Citizens United, a grassroots-funded political action committee, and J Street, a liberal Jewish organization, both issued their endorsements over the past four days.
The latest tally of votes in last Tuesday’s primary shows Rep. Duncan Hunter with 48.0 percent to Campa-Najjar’s 17.3 percent. The two will face each other in the November general election.
Campa-Najjar was one of six candidates endorsed by End Citizens United, which was formed to reverse the U.S. Supreme Court decision deregulating the limits on independent group’s spending for or against specific candidates.
“These reformers are ready to get to work and fight for meaningful campaign finance reform in Congress,” said Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United. “We’re proud to stand with them and look forward to helping them win in November.”
J Street is a Washington-based organization that seeks peace between Israel and the Palestinians and acts as a counterpoint to the conservative American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
“We are proud to endorse Ammar Campa-Najjar, who represents the goals and values of American Jews and pro-Israel voters in California’s 50th District and across the country,” said Aaron Davis, national political director at J Street. “By defeating President Trump’s congressional enablers and empowering a new wave of leaders like Ammar, we can push back on policies that are exacerbating conflict and chaos in the Middle East.”
