A 62-year-old Encinitas woman has been reappointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to serve on the California Landscape Architects Technical Committee.

Patricia Trauth has been principal landscape architect at San Diego-based Rick Engineering Company since 2016, and has served on the state committee since 2015.

“The Landscape Architects Technical Committee, under the purview of the California Architects Board, was created by the California Legislature to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public by establishing standards for licensure and enforcing the laws and regulations that govern the practice of landscape architecture in California,” according to the state’s website. “The LATC is one of the numerous boards, bureaus, commissions and committees within the Department of Consumer Affairs responsible for consumer protection and the regulation of licensed professionals.”

San Diego landscape architecture projects of note that Trauth has worked on include the San Diego International Airport Expansion, Bird Rock Coastal Traffic Flow Improvements, and the Coronado Bayfront Civic Center.

Prior to her current tenure at Rick Engineering, Trauth was principal landscape architect at URS Corporation from 2008 to 2014 and at AECOM from 2014 to 2016. She is a member and past-president of the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Trauth earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Arizona.

Trauth’s position on the state committee does not require Senate confirmation and her compensation is $100 per diem. She is a Democrat.
