Rally organizer Ellen Montanari said Levin is the candidate who “will fight the most effective fight in the November election, and who will best represent us in Congress.”
Montanari and others had gathered for 67 weeks at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays outside of Republican Issa’s Vista office to protest the agenda of the Trump White House and his supporters in Congress. Issa ultimately decided not to run for re-election.
“We need Mike to join the other Dems in Congress so they can put checks and balances on this presidency,” said Montanari.
Montanari said her views were personal, and did not reflect those of all attending the rallies, but “he’s the best person to represent us in Washington.”
Levin said he was “deeply honored” by the endorsement, adding that “there is not a group of activists in America that can match these for commitment, creativity and effectiveness.”
His other endorsements include the National Organization for Women, Sierra Club and California Teachers Association in the crowded race that includes four leading Democrats and three Republicans.
