Matt Strabone, a candidate for San Diego Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk in 2018, said Monday his campaign set a record in fundraising by the June 30 reporting deadline.

With nearly $50,000 raised from individual contributions, Strabone said he has raised more money by this point in the campaign than any candidate for the office in the history of the county.

“I am honored and humbled by the historic level of support our campaign has received,” he said in a statement. “Our anti-corruption message of transparency and accountability is resonating all across San Diego County and I am more determined than ever to make county government work for all of us.”

Strabone, an attorney, is challenging incumbent Ernest Dronenburg Jr., who has held office since 2011, in the June 5, 2018, primary election.
