Three of the five members of the San Diego Congressional delegation are holding town halls on Saturday, with large crowds and controversy expected at each meeting.

The likely repeal and replacement of Obamacare, President Trump’s new travel ban and border wall, and continuing controversy over relations with Russia are likely to be among the topics raised. Nationally Republican lawmakers have faced angry protesters at rowdy town hall meetings in recent weeks.

Rep. Susan Davis, a Democrat who represents the 53rd District in central San Diego, is expecting over 1,000 constituents at Montezuma Hall on the San Diego State University Campus. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican whose 47th District spans north coastal San Diego and south Orange counties, has scheduled two town halls in Oceanside. The first is at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 10 a.m., both at the Junior Seau Recreation Center. Registration is required online.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, whose sprawling district covers most of East San Diego County, will hold his meeting at 10 a.m. at the Ramona Mainstage. A crowd is expected, with some arriving as early as 7 a.m.

Members of Congress meet with constituents all the time, but town hall meetings give citizens are opportunity for unscripted, back-and-forth dialogue with their representatives.

Among the other members of the San Diego delegation, Rep. Scott Peters, a Democrat who represents the 52nd District in coastal San Diego, held a town hall on Feb. 20 and has another scheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Clairemont High School. Rep. Juan Vargas, a Democrat whose 51st district runs along the Mexican border into Imperial County, has not yet scheduled a town hall.
