After only a few weeks in office, former San Diego City Councilman and now state Assembly Member Todd Gloria was appointed Tuesday as assistant majority whip by Speaker Anthony Rendon.
“I am honored to have this opportunity and I am truly humbled by the faith Speaker Rendon has placed in me to take a leadership role in the legislature,” said Gloria.
“When I was sworn-in as a state assembly member, I pledged to champion housing affordability and to improve our state’s crumbling transportation infrastructure,” he added. “This new role gives me more opportunities to advance these priorities and others that will ultimately move California forward.”
The assistant majority whip helps lead the Democratic majority in the Assembly.
Gloria represents the 78th District, which covers coastal San Diego from Solana Beach to the Mexican border.
