Steve Padilla and Mike Diez claimed early leads in their respective Districts Tuesday in their bids for the Chula Vista City Council.
In District No. 2, Padilla a 56.11 percent lead over his opponent, Jason Paguio who garnered 43.89 percent of the vote.
Diez, who runs for the position in District No. 3, has a much more narrow lead. His lead over Rudy Ramirez was finalized at 51.06 percent to the latter’s 48.94 percent. Ramriez was leading in early figures but Diez managed to overtake him.
Padilla previously served as Chula Vista’s mayor from 2002-2006, and served two terms on its city council from 1994-2002. Diez was a firefighter for 30 years.
