In another example of San Diego’s growing bi-national ties, personnel from San Diego Fire-Rescue and the Tijuana fire department trained together for nearly a week in the Mexican city.

The high-rise fire training under the San Diego-Tijuana Sister Cities Agreement took place from Oct. 25 through Oct. 28 and culminated in a drill on Monday.

“With this training exercise, we continue to build bonds with our neighbors across the border and strengthen our San Diego-Tijuana megaregion,” said Mayor Kevin Faulconer. “The level of bi-national cooperation and collaboration has never been higher between our two cities and I look forward to growing that partnership even further in the coming years.”

The final fire drill took place at the Hotel Real Inn on Avenida Paseo de los Heros with both Faulconer and Tijuana Mayor Dr. Jorge Aztiazarán in attendance.
