Three police organizations chose National Police Week to issue their endorsements of Scott Peters for re-election to a third term in Congress.
On Monday the San Diego Police Officers Association, the union representing local officers, endorsed Peters. The California Association of Highway Patrolmen followed on Tuesday and the Peace Officers Research Association of California on Wednesday.
“As elected leaders, public safety is our number one priority. Since my time on City Council, I have worked with the San Diego Police to get them the resources they need to reduce response times and protect themselves while they protect us,” Peters said.
Last week, Peters helped pass a proposal that would allow local and state police departments to apply for matching grants to help purchase specialized vests for female police officers.
Peters represents the 52nd Congressional District, which includes the cities of Poway, Coronado and most of San Diego.
