San Diego City Councilmember Scott Sherman picked up endorsements from the two major law enforcement unions on Thursday in his campaign for re-election in District 7.

Sherman was endorsed by the San Diego Police Officer’s Association and the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County. The two organizations represent officers in bargaining with the city and county.

“I am humbled to be law enforcement’s choice for your District 7 councilmember,” Sherman said at a press conference announcing the endorsements. “Thank you to the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect us.”

Sherman is being challenged by Navy veteran and real estate broker Justin DeCesare. The district stretches north of Interstate 8 from Mission Valley to Tierrasanta.
