San Diego City Councilman Todd Gloria on Thursday endorsed Navy veteran and real estate broker Justin DeCesare in his challenge to incumbent Councilman Scott Sherman in District 7.
The race is non-partisan, but DeCesare has been endorsed by the San Diego Democratic Party, and Gloria has the party’s endorsement in his bid for the state Assembly. Sherman is a Republican.
“Justin DeCesare has the right combination of leadership experience, civic pride, and passion that I know will serve the residents of District 7 well,” said Gloria. “As a former president of his neighborhood community council, Justin is a proven consensus builder and community advocate. He represents the exact type of next-generation leader we need on the City Council.”
DeCesare, who serves as president of the Tierrasanta Community Council, said it is “an honor to receive Todd’s endorsement” and praised him as “a model of the leadership and work ethic” that he wants to emulate on the council.
District 7 is stretches north of Interstate 8 from Mission Valley to Tierrasanta.
