Seven people convicted of crimes in San Diego County were granted pardons Thursday by Gov. Jerry Brown.
In a Christmastime tradition, the governor pardoned 91 people total, including actor Robert Downey Jr.
The San Diego pardons were received by:
— Thomas Danieli, a New York man convicted of manslaughter in December 1965 for causing a double-fatality traffic collision when he tried to pass another vehicle;
— John DeLude, a Michigan man convicted of planting or cultivating marijuana in June 1980;
— Roy Gallup, a resident of Montana who was convicted in August 1989 of stealing clocks and other items from a warehouse;
— Darrell Munson, a Utah man convicted of grand theft in June 1969;
— Jonathon Sells, an Ohio man convicted in December 1988 of drug possession;
— Randle Starbuck, a Mississippi resident convicted in March 1992 of receiving stolen property; and
— George Wright, a New Hampshire man convicted of auto theft in May 1965.
In his pardon message, the governor wrote that the men have lived honest, upright and law-abiding lives since completing their sentences.
He noted that Danieli was a probation officer for more than 25 years, Gallup volunteers with organizations that serve wounded veterans, and Wright is active in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and other community groups.
Downey was convicted of numerous charges in November 1996 in Los Angeles County, including possession and use of a controlled substance, driving under the influence and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
Brown said the star of the “Iron Man” movies and “Sherlock Holmes” obtained a Superior Court order in October attesting to his good conduct since being released from custody.
