Port of San Diego officials announced Tuesday that they’re seeking proposals to redevelop a more than 1,500-square-foot restaurant space at the end of the Imperial Beach Pier.
According to the port, its operating agreement with the Tin Fish expires April 30 next year, and a Request for Proposals was issued on Monday.
“A reconfiguration of the existing building is highly encouraged to best utilize space, attract customers, enhance business operations and increase revenue,” according to a port statement.
Respondents must demonstrate experience in the implementation or oversight of at least one food services improvement project. Port officials will also want to see that a prospective operator is capable of developing an outreach strategy to keep the public and stakeholders involved and informed about the project.
The winning respondent also might be allowed to set up a food cart at the end of the pier.
Responses are due by Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. A tenant could be selected in January.
In a separate, but similar, process, the heated competition to lease and renovate the landmark Anthony’s restaurant along the downtown San Diego waterfront could be nearing an end. Selection of a tenant by the port commissioners is expected next week.
