“Barbara Bry has spent her life working to level the playing field for women of all ages,” Davis said in a statement. “We need more role models like Barbara in leadership, and I believe Barbara would be the most effective representative for District 1.”
Bry is a successful technology entrepreneur who started Run Women Run, a non-partisan organization that encourages women to pursue public service, and Athena San Diego, the largest organization for women in the tech and life sciences.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of a trailblazer like Congresswoman Davis,” said Bry.
Earlier Bry was endorsed by Rep. Juan Vargas, who like Davis is a Democrat, and Bry also has the support of Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins.
The District 1 seat is currently held by Sherri Lightner, who is not eligible to run for a third term. Businessman Ray Ellis and La Jolla Town Council President Joe LaCava have also announced their candidacies.
The sprawling district includes La Jolla, University City and Carmel Valley.
