Termed-out San Diego City Councilman Todd Gloria announced his campaign for state Assembly has raised $200,000 in the first 10 weeks of fundraising.

Gloria is running for the 78th District seat now held by Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, who like Gloria will be termed out. Atkins has endorsed him for the seat.

“Thank you for helping to make the first few months of our campaign a success!” Gloria wrote in an email this week to supporters. “I am humbled and grateful to all of those who supported us right off the bat. It means a great deal to me and I cannot thank you enough for making this a great experience thus far.”

Gloria faces Republican Kevin Melton in the primary election on June 7, 2016.
