Fresh off major victories in the November elections, the Republican National Committee will open a three-day meeting at the Hotel del Coronado Wednesday.
The RNC will hold business meetings on Wednesday. The Thursday and Friday schedule includes appearances by potential presidential candidates like Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Dr. Ben Carson.
The Washington Post reported that Mitt Romney, who owns a home in La Jolla, is considering attending the meeting. Romney, who failed to oust President Barack Obama in 2012, is reportedly mulling another run next year.
If he does get in the race, Romney could face a crowded field, with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also having presidential aspirations.
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who caught the attention of national GOP officials after winning office last February, is scheduled to speak to the group Friday.
The theme of the meeting is “Building on Success.” Republicans took control of the Senate, added to its House of Representatives majority and made gains in many statehouses in the general election.
