Councilman Scott Sherman will honor the Ssubi Foundation founder and resident Laura Luxemburg Monday night for her selfless service to the people of Uganda and other impoverished nations in Africa

Ssubi serves the Ugandan people and strives to help make the country a self-sustainable nation. The Ssubi Foundation works closely with medical facilities such as the VA Hospital in La Jolla, Rady’s Children Hospital, Sharp Coronado, and American Medical Response to send surplus medical equipment to medical centers throughout Uganda.

Ssubi not only makes San Diego greener by keeping medical equipment out of landfills, but they also fill a gap that other organizations have left out by providing this equipment to developing countries like Uganda.

The event takes place at at 6 p.m at San Diego City Hall, 202 C St., 12th Floor.

“Instead of just accepting the status quo, Laura Luxemburg dedicated her life to help an impoverished people in desperate need of help. Laura is a shining example of generosity and deserves our recognition,” Sherman said.
