Around 100 city of San Diego employees joined cheerleaders and a contingent of the marching band for a pep rally for San Diego State University’s football team Thursday outside of City Hall.
“I just wanted to say to all city employees, thanks for all the great work you’re doing, thank you for supporting our Aztecs,” Mayor Kevin Faulconer said.
“(I’m) very proud of all of us who are alumni, and folks who are supporting San Diego State and what they’re doing, and supporting the teams and our college athletes who are out there trying hard — not only in football but in every sport across the board,” he said.
Five employees were awarded tickets to the Nov. 21 football game against Air Force.
The Aztecs, 4-4, play at Boise State on Saturday night.
