Congressman Darrell Issa (R-49) appeared on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” to discuss immigration, urging President Obama to delay executive action in favor of a reform deal.
Issa framed the issue to include international STEM students and professionals, who are often sent back to their home countries despite wanting to stay.
“We send home the best and the brightest from around the world when they would like to stay here and add to our economy,” Issa said. “I’m hoping the President will delay and have a real comprehensive discussion about what’s possible, because a great deal is possible on immigration reform.”
In addition to students who wish to stay in the country, Issa said, California famers need a steady worker program.
Issa also discussed military action in the Middle East, stating that he supported the President’s decision last week to send 1,500 more troops to Iraq.
