Hundreds of San Diegans participated in the the People’s Climate March at City Hall as part of a global event on Sunday.

The event kicked off with a speech from Councilmember Todd Gloria, who talked about the importance of a Climate Action Plan for the city. Throughout the day, the event will include additional speeches from Councilmember David Alvarez, SDUSD President Kevin Baiser, and others, in addition to live music and rallies.

The People’s Climate March is happening in over 166 countries on September 21st in an effort to bring attention to issues of clean energy and mass transit. One of the largest gatherings is in New York City, where over 300,000 people joined a rally down the streets of Manhattan.
