The connector ramp from westbound Interstate 8 to northbound Interstate 5 will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 2-4, for striping and K-rail barrier placement, according to Caltrans.
Crews will also close two lanes of northbound I-5 between I-8 and Sea World Drive on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving as part of the I-5/I-8 Connector Project.
Westbound I-8 traffic will be detoured to southbound I-5 to the Old Town Avenue off-ramp and then back on to the Old Town Avenue northbound I-5 on- ramp. Motorists should allow extra travel time due to high traffic volumes even during evening hours.
The I-5/I-8 Connector Project will add a westbound I-8 lane at the connector ramp to northbound I-5, and an additional northbound lane and auxiliary lane on I-5 from the interchange north to Sea World Drive.
Project completion was scheduled for summer 2016.
