A Google Analytics map shows the worldwide readership of Times of San Diego in August.

Times of San Diego counted 184,958 readers in August — its second-highest month to date —with readership continuing to be young, local and mobile.

The 25-34 age group is the largest audience segment, accounting for 23 percent of reading sessions. A full two-thirds of readers are 54 or younger.

Most readership is local, with 34 percent of sessions by readers in the City of San Diego, 17 percent elsewhere in San Diego County and 6 percent elsewhere in Southern California. The balance of the readership is national, and even international.

Readership is increasingly mobile, with 34 percent of sessions via smartphones, 15 percent on tablets and the remaining 51 percent on desktop and laptop computers. The Apple iPhone is the most frequently used mobile device.

The most popular article in August with over 18,000 views was about a San Diego biotech firm’s production of the ZMapp drug for Ebola victims.

Readers and readership of the site are measured by Google Analytics. Readers are unique users in Internet parlance, defined as a user who visits a site at least once during the month. Readership is based on active online sessions, which totaled 252,233 in August.

The independent news website will mark six months in operation on Sept. 13
