Hello, La Mesa!

How are your area streets? If you thought, “Bad,” things may be looking up.

The city of La Mesa just started the most extensive slurry seal project in its history, with more than 3.47 million square feet of street surfaces around the city slated to be repaired.

Slurry seal is used to prevent road deterioration and reduce the need for costly asphalt overlay.

Crews will prepare roads by removing striping, weeds and anything else that could prevent the slurry seal from sticking. Then, they’ll begin patching and sealing cracks. Slurry application is scheduled to begin in August and September, and then the roadways will be restriped.

The city has released an interactive map, showing where and when the work will take place.
