Hello, Point Loma and Ocean Beach!
It’s a milestone birthday for Point Loma High, which opened as Point Loma Junior-Senior High School on Sept. 8, 1925.
In our special section this week, Scott Hopkins takes a look back at 100 years of the school’s storied history and how the school plans to continue to improve.
Hopkins also shares the school’s major sports accomplishments, including a four-time state championship girls basketball team in the 1980s and being the only school in the U.S. that has had two alumni pitch perfect MLB games.
And he looks at the school’s Hall of Fame members and prominent alumni.
We’re still accepting nominations for the 2025 Best of Uptown & Downtown San Diego, so let us know about your favorite businesses here.
