Liberty Station Arts Fest 🎨:
On Saturday, June 13, Liberty Station is putting on a Summer Arts Fest on the North Promenade. The festival is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature local artists’ work, live painting demonstrations and in-studio workshops. Food and drinks will be available alongside live music with performances by Lucky Devils Band, High Tide Society and DJ Chris Cutz. The best part about this event — it’s free!
Field Of Dreamz Festival 🎸:
This may not be in Ocean Beach, but it features some OB legends. Slightly Stoopid is hosting the Field of Dreamz Fest — a reggae music festival — at Petco Park on Saturday, June 13. They’ll be headlining the show alongside Sublime with performances by Stephen Marley, The Elovaters, Pepper, Denm, Z-Trip and Boostive. Local boys, Band of Gringos also made their way onto the lineup. The festival starts at 3:30 p.m. and The Harp is hosting an after party at 10 p.m. with even more live music. And guess what? There are still tickets available, starting at $125. If you break that up for how much you’re paying per artist it’s around $13. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
The Spongebob Musical 🧽:Â
Also at Liberty Station at the new home for the Cygnet Theatre, The Spongebob Musical made its debut yesterday, and is being staged all the way through July 12. The show will feature songs from the likes of David Bowie and Cyndi Lauper sung by Spongebob and the various cast of characters from the cartoon. To me, this seems like an ideal opportunity to get your kids interested in musical theatre. Cygnet Theatre describes it as fun for all ages. Also, tickets are cheaper this weekend, June 10- 13, for the show’s opening preview.
