Good morning, San Diego.

And a happy weekend to you! It might be a slightly wet one, but not for long – sun is in the forecast too.

If you hear bells at noon today, here’s why: Catholic churches across San Diego will be pausing to pay tribute to Pope Francis on the day of his funeral at the Vatican.

In other news –

Thanks to some sharp undercover work, San Diego is cracking down on a spa with a notorious reputation … Padres manager Mike Shildt is throwing his support behind a good cause – he wants the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to be able to tell its “full, big-picture story” … And Legoland California has a treat next month for youngsters itching to get behind the wheel (and isn’t that all of them?).

This is just the third edition of our new-look newsletter. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Please share them with us at news@timesofsandiego.com.
