Hello, Navajo and College Area!

Remember two weeks ago when I shared with you all that the city’s updated community plans for College Area called for an over 300% increase in homes? Well, Houston, we are ready for launch. The city council officially put its stamp of approval on the plan this week.

Now, this doesn’t mean you’ll see new homes popping up left and right in the next couple months. What is does mean, though, is that College Area could look quite different in 30 years time. The plan accounts for the foreseeable future, anticipating housing, recreation and transportation needs.

It’s important to take into consideration College Area’s last community plan, approved in 1989. Some of the expected population and housing growth in the most recently approved plan is leftover from that previous community plan. So, as much as the city anticipates a population spike greater than 200% of the neighborhood’s current population, there’s a chance that won’t happen.

Let me know your thoughts on this community plan, now that this blueprint will officially be shaping College Area for the next three decades.
