A small electrical fire aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln while the ship was docked at Naval Air Station North Island was extinguished in 10 minutes, the U.S. Navy announced Thursday.

At about 2 p.m. Wednesday, the in-port emergency team aboard the Lincoln responded to an electrical fire in the forward emergency diesel generator compartment, said Cmdr. Zach Harrell, spokesman for Commander, Naval Air Forces.

“The crew immediately secured power to the affected component and the fire was extinguished at about 2:10 p.m.,” Harrell said. “No personnel were injured during this incident and no foul play is suspected.”

An assessment was underway to determine the extent of the damage to the ship.
