The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay will return to its home port of San Diego Tuesday following a seven-month deployment as part of the USS John C. Stennis carrier strike group.

The strike group, which included Carrier Air Wing 9 and the guided-missile destroyers USS Chung-Hoon, USS Spruance and USS Stockdale. departed home ports in Bremerton, Pearl Harbor and San Diego in October and November 2018.

While on deployment, the Mobile Bay participated in multiple exercises with international allies throughout the Indo-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.

In April, the ship made a port visit to Marseille on the French Mediterranean coast, where it hosted the U.S. Ambasador to the French Republic and Principality of Monaco, Jamie McCourt.

Guided-missile cruisers are the Navy’s most powerful surface ships after nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
