The MCAS Miramar Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting squadron is scheduled to conduct training on the airfield Sunday — including a series of controlled burn exercises — that could result in smoke and flames visible to nearby residents and motorists, MCAS Miramar officials warned.

The training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The controlled fires are part of the unit’s routine training program, and no visibility restrictions are expected, officials said.
