Military investigators were working Tuesday to pin down the circumstances surrounding the non-suspicious shooting death of a service member at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
The Marine was found dead in a base about 1:15 p.m. Monday, according to Capt. Morgan Frazer, a spokesman for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
No criminal involvement was suspected, Frazer said, but it was unclear if the death was considered an apparent accident or possibly a suicide.
“An investigation has been initiated, and there are no additional details available at this time,” the captain said Tuesday afternoon.
The name of the deceased Marine, a member of the 3rd MAW, was being withheld pending family notification.
