The Bremerton, WA-based USS Nimitiz was in San Diego Wednesday to assemble its air wing for training prior to an upcoming deployment.

The Navy’s Public Affairs office in San Diego said the nuclear power supercarrier would be operating in the area for several weeks of training.

The USS Nimitiz was long based in San Diego, but has been in Washington State for a major overhaul.

The Nimitiz was the first ship in the Navy fleet currently of nuclear carriers.
