The Lake Erie, built at Bath Iron Works in Maine, is the 24th guided-missile cruiser equipped with the AEGIS weapons system. It is armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles, 54-caliber long-range guns and torpedoes, and can also shoot down ballistic missiles with its Standard Missile-3 system..

The tours are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. All visitors in line by 4 p.m. will be accommodated. Visitors will board on a first come, first served basis, and may have to wait in line during peak hours.

The Navy cautioned that the ship is not handicapped accessible and visitors must be in good physical condition to walk safely about the ship, moving up and down steep ladders.
