Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton is scheduled to get a new leader Friday.
U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Mulligan is scheduled to succeed Capt. Mark Kobelja during a command-change ceremony at the North County base.
Mulligan was the executive officer — or second-in-command — at Naval Medical Center San Diego in Balboa Park for two years. Before that, she was the chief of neurosurgery at the National Naval Medical Center/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Kobelja is moving on to the U.S. Sixth Fleet to serve as the force and fleet surgeon. He’ll be the primary advisor to the commander on medical and health matters for naval forces in Europe, Africa and surrounding waters.
The 500,000-square-foot hospital at the sprawling Marine Corps base provides outpatient and inpatient care for active-duty service members, their family members, retirees and other eligible beneficiaries.
