A man suffering with possible kidney stones was hoisted up from a fishing excursion boat about 62 miles off the coast of San Diego, a Coast Guard spokesperson said Sunday.
Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call for help from the crew of the 32-foot fishing boat, Intimidator, just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The fishing boat is based at Dana Harbor, in Orange County.
The crew requested medical assistance for a 30 year-old passenger suffering from possible kidney stones, a USCG spokesman said.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter arrived overhead at about 6:30 p.m. and safely airlifted the man to an EMS crew waiting on shore in Sna Diego.
The EMS crew took the patient to Scripps Mercy Hospital for further treatment.
