San Diego’s General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. is getting $20.7 million more for a previously awarded contract for maintenance of the USS Boxer, the Pentagon announced Monday.

“A phased maintenance availability [contract] includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations and modifications that will update and improve the ship’s military and technical capabilities,” the Pentagon said in a news release.

Work will be performed in San Diego, and is expected to be completed by December 2015.
