It will be dry and partly cloudy over much of San Diego County Saturday as a storm that dumped more than two inches of rain in some areas moves out of the region.

A high surf advisory for the coastal areas will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday.

Highs will be in the 60s in the valleys and coastal areas, 45 to 52 in the mountains and 65 to 69 in the deserts. Northwest winds of up to 20 mph, with wind gusts of 30 mph, is expected in some areas.

Rain totals as of 4:31 p.m. Friday from the powerful atmospheric river storm that drenched Southern California during the Christmas holiday included 2.65 inches at the Palomar Observatory, 1.54 inches in San Onofre and 1.25 at Rainbow Camp.

The Friday downpours capped a week that saw one man killed when he was struck by tree branch outside his home and thousands of San Diego Gas & Electric customers left without power on Christmas Eve.

Roberto Ruiz Salmeron, 61, of San Diego was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the man killed on Christmas Eve when a tree branch broke away and fell on him as he stood on the corner of Marlborough Avenue and Wightman Street.

A GoFundMe page created on behalf of Ruiz Salmeron’s family states that he was walking to his car when he was fatally struck by a branch that was more than 30 feet long.

“Our entire family is devastated, and the holidays won’t ever be the same without him. He definitely knew how to brighten the day with jokes and humor. We had gifts under the tree he won’t ever get to open,” according to the page, which identifies Ruiz Salmeron as “a loving father, husband, grandfather and a hardworking welder among many other things.”
