A power outage left hundreds of homes and businesses without electrical service across neighborhoods just south of Golden Hill on Thursday.

The blackout struck about 1 p.m. Thursday, knocking out power to a total of 1,833 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in Lincoln Park, Logan Heights, and Mountain View, the power company said.

“Our equipment has been damaged and our crews need to make repairs,” the website said.

As of 6:30 p.m., personnel had restored electrical service to all but 16 of the initially affected ratepayers, according to SDG&E. The remainder were expected to be back online by 1 a.m. Friday.

The cause of the outage was damaged transmission equipment, according to the utility.
