A spate of power outages hit the San Diego Gas & Electric service area beginning Saturday afternoon, with the largest in the northern part of the city.
Almost 950 customers were without power in Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos and San Pasqual according to SDG&E’s online outage map.
No cause for the loss of power, reported at 4:15 p.m., has been determined, but electricity had been restored by 9:45 p.m., ahead of schedule, and also in a small outage for Rancho Santa Fe.
But losses of power in El Cajon and surrounding unincorporated communities and south Chula Vista, though they each affected fewer than 100 customers, continued late Saturday.
The estimated times for power to be restored in the East and South county outages range from 10 p.m. to midnight.
According to SDG&E, in Rancho Santa Fe and Chula Vista, the loss of electricity was due to damaged equipment.
An SDGE spokesman said that the high temperatures were not believed to be a factor in the outages.
