The National Weather Service‘s weekend forecast for the San Diego area calls for cooler temperatures with a deep marine layer and morning drizzle.
“A deep marine layer will continue through the weekend with cooler
weather,” the agency said. “The marine layer will be thick enough to produce areas of
drizzle each morning … with highs up to 10 degrees below average.”
Highs on Saturday will be 62 to 65 near the coast, 67 to 72 inland, around 66 in the
western valleys, 60 to 65 near the foothills, 54 to 64 in the mountains and 78 to 83 in the deserts.
Gusty winds are expected, ranging from 15 to 25 mph in the coast and valleys, to 50 mph in the mountains and deserts.
At the beaches, there will be elevated surf of 4-to-8 feet, with local sets up to 9 feet
through Saturday afternoon. The weather service warned that this will create a high rip current risk and associated dangerous swimming conditions.
