Light rain – with most of it expected to fall Sunday afternoon and evening – is in the forecast, along with cooler temperatures and the likelihood of more showers next week, according to the National Weather Service.
“Multiple low pressure systems are moving across the region,” meteorologist Casey Oswant said Saturday.
Oswant noted a few very light showers Saturday morning in an area east of Interstate 15, adding that an area near Palomar Mountain has received 0.15 inches of rain so far.
A low-pressure system will move across the area Sunday and Monday bringing light rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds. Most of the rain and snow will fall Sunday afternoon and evening, but showers may linger over San Diego County into Monday morning. More below ? pic.twitter.com/xUShE56fN4

The coast could receive a 10th of an inch of rain, while the county’s eastern valleys could see up to a quarter-inch, she said. Mountain regions could experience between a half- to three-quarters of an inch of rain. Monday morning could bring light snow to the mountain regions along Interstate 8.
While precipitation will remain light, forecasters expect strong wind gusts across deserts, mountains and waterways.
Another chance of showers for the county will start Wednesday night into Thursday, with possibly more rain toward the end of the week, Oswant said.
Weekend temperatures will be in the low 60s across most coastal and valley areas, the 40s to 50s in the mountains and the 70s in the deserts, according to the NWS.
Monday will be fairly cool, with temperatures in the upper 50s for the coast and valleys, 30s in the mountains and the mid-60s for the deserts, according to the NWS.
Oswant said it will warm up a bit Tuesday and Wednesday, but county residents should expect chilly temperatures Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s in downtown San Diego.
