County officials and community members broke ground on a new Casa de Oro library near Spring Valley Academy, set to open in spring 2026.

The county-funded 12,000-square-foot library at 9610 Campo Road will be twice the size of the current leased facility, it was announced Wednesday.

The new build will include a 2,000-square-foot community room, public computers, laptops for checkout, teen area with study rooms, a children’s area with early literacy play equipment, a patio and bookstore.

The building will meet Zero Net Energy and LEED Gold standards, using solar panels to produce the electricity it needs to operate, according to the county.

Community input helped shape the library’s design and engagement will continue as plans evolve, officials said.
