San Diego County remains under the grip of another round of moderate to strong Santa Ana winds, paired with extremely dry air, elevating critical fire weather concerns.

The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings for potential wildfire danger until at least 10 p.m. Tuesday for the inland valley and mountain areas throughout the county. Gusts of up to 65 mph are possible during the period.

High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 68 to 73 near the coast, 69 to 73 in the western valleys, 61 to 66 near the foothills, 48 to 58 in the mountains and 60 to 63 in the deserts, the NWS said.

A brief respite from the winds is forecast for Wednesday. However, the Santa Ana winds will make a return later on Wednesday into Thursday. Fortunately, meteorologists said this second round is not expected to be as intense as the current conditions.

Looking ahead to the weekend, weather patterns are predicted to shift as an area of low pressure moves in from the north. This system may bring much-needed precipitation to the region, offering some relief from the dry conditions.
