A red flag warning for critical fire danger, due to strong winds and low humidity, will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for the San Diego County mountains and inland valleys.
Winds will range from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph in some locations, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures Wednesday are expected to reach 66 to 71 near the coast, 72 inland, 73 in the western valleys, 70 near the foothills, 53 to 63 in the mountains and around 69 in the deserts.
Relative humidity will remain very low and while winds will weaken Thursday, conditions will stay dry, the NWS said.
A weak low-pressure system is expected to bring cooler temperatures on Friday and Saturday, with a slight chance of light precipitation in San Diego County, particularly along the coast and in the mountains.
Dry conditions with gusty Santa Ana winds may return early next week, according to meteorologists.
