The Metropolitan Transit System announced Monday it will operate on a Sunday service schedule for Christmas Day and ramp up post-game Trolley service to accommodate large crowds expected for the Holiday Bowl on Friday, Dec. 27.

Additional details about the MTS Christmas Day service schedule include:

  • All Trolley lines will operate every 30 minutes and most bus routes will operate on a Sunday schedule.
  • No service will be provided on Rapid Express Routes 280 or 290 and Rural Routes 888, 891, 892 and 894.
  • MTS Access subscription passengers who still want service must call ahead of time to arrange their transportation.
  • Holiday travelers can benefit from direct connections to the airport through Route 992 adjacent to Santa Fe Depot or the San Diego Airport Flyer from the Old Town Transit Center.
  • MTS will also have its Friends Ride Free holiday promotion: every fare-paying adult passenger can bring one guest on board for free.

Additional details about Holiday Bowl service include:

  • Pre-Game Service
    •  Copper Line: Regular Trolley service arriving at El Cajon Transit Center every 15 minutes or better.
    • Green Line: Regular Trolley service arriving at Stadium Station every 15 minutes or better.
  • Post-Game Service
    •  Copper Line: Extended 15-minute Trolley service in both directions until 10:40 p.m.
    • Green Line: Extended 15-minute Trolley service in both directions until approximately 9:30 p.m., with additional trips in both directions as needed until crowds diminish.
